Good governance as expressed through factors like reliability, predictability and accountability is increasingly viewed fundamental for long-term national prosperity. However, many aspects of the relationship between good governance and economic progress are still poorly understood.Public sector management, accountability, a legal framework for a conducive business environment have been core elements of governance. Good governance is intrinsically concerned with how well power is exercised by public representatives to meet the needs and aspirations of the citizens. On particular area where IIP will focus is enhancing access to rule of law for communities that faces economic and social marginalization. Capable and accountable law and justice delivery institutions are important for political, social and economic modernization. Apart from being relevant in promoting democracy and human rights, more accountable legal and justice systemscontribute to the overall wellbeing of society. They are also essential for creating conditions conducive for national and regional peace and security. Rule of law and justice are indeed both processes and outcomes of inclusive, accountable and democratic states.
